چکیده

We show that for every n-dimensional lattice L the torus Rn/L can be embedded with distortion O(n ·√log n) into a Hilbert space. This improves the exponential upper bound of O(n) due to Khot and Naor (FOCS 2005, Math. Annal. 2006) and gets close to their lower bound of Ω( √ n). We also obtain tight bounds for certain families of lattices. Our main new ingredient is an embedding that maps any point u ∈ Rn/L to a Gaussian function centered at u in the Hilbert space L2(R/L). The proofs involve Gaussian measures on lattices, the smoothing parameter of lattices and Korkine-Zolotarev bases.

Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian tori contained in a hypersphere

The Clifford torus is a torus in a three-dimensional sphere. Homogeneous tori are simple generalization of the Clifford torus which still in a three-dimensional sphere. There is a way to construct tori in a threedimensional sphere using the Hopf fibration. In this paper, all Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian tori which is contained in a hypersphere in the complex Euclidean plane are constructed...

Fabrication of New 3D Phantom for Measuring Geometric Distortion in Magnetic Resonance Imaging System

Introduction: Geometric distortion is a major shortcoming of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which has an important influence on the accuracy of volumetric measurements, an important parameter in neurology and oncology. Our goal is to design and construct a new three- dimensional phantom using a 3D printer in order to measure geometric distortion and its reproducibility in...

Higher dimensional Scherk’s hypersurfaces

In 3-dimensional Euclidean space Scherk second surfaces are singly periodic embedded minimal surfaces with 4 planar ends. In this paper, we obtain a natural generalization of Scherk’s second surfaces in higher dimensional Euclidean spaces. In particular we show that, in higher dimensional Euclidean spaces R, for n ≥ 3, there exists n−1-periodic embedded minimal hypersurfaces with 4 hyperplanar ...

Introduction: Geometric distortion, an important parameter in neurology and oncology. The current study aimed to design and construct a new three-dimensional (3D) phantom using a 3D printer in order to measure geometric distortion and its 3D reproducibility. Material and Methods: In this study, a new phantom ...

Flat tori in three-dimensional space and convex integration.

It is well-known that the curvature tensor is an isometric invariant of C(2) Riemannian manifolds. This invariant is at the origin of the rigidity observed in Riemannian geometry. In the mid 1950s, Nash amazed the world mathematical community by showing that this rigidity breaks down in regularity C(1). This unexpected flexibility has many paradoxical consequences, one of them is the existence ...
